precipitation is now in development and gamers everywhere are excited about the upcoming series based on Bethesda’s video game franchise, which will explore how civilization rebuilt itself after a nuclear war changed life as we know it forever.
The popular role-playing game is set after the Great War in 2077, which saw massive, deadly radiation exposure and the subsequent collapse of social and government structures, to the point where massive destruction was achieved in just two hours.
Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan of Kilter Films go to the precipitation adaptation, with the Prime Video series marking the first time the game franchise has been developed for the small screen.
Todd Howard, executive producer at Bethesda Game Studios, shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming adaptation, saying, “Over the past decade, we’ve looked at many ways to precipitation to the screen.
“But from the moment I first spoke to Jonah and Lisa a few years ago, it was clear that they and the Kilter team were the ones who got it right. We are huge fans of their work and couldn’t be more excited to working with them and Amazon Studios.”
So tune in your Pip-Boys, crack open a Nuka Cola, and let’s see what we know about the precipitation series so far…

Fallout release date
Unfortunately we don’t know when to expect precipitation so we’ll just have to wait patiently for a release date to be announced. Please stay ready!
Fallout Plot: How closely will it follow the video games?
Prime Video has not yet confirmed an official plot for the new adaptation, but there are many possibilities that can be explored due to the fact that the precipitation franchise has featured different locations, factions, and creatures over the years.
Fallout 3 is set in Washington DC (renamed Capital Wasteland), while the follow-up Fallout: New Vegas is set in the Mojave Wasteland, and Fallout 4 is set in the ruins of Boston, known as the Commonwealth. It is not yet known whether the series will be set in one of these locations, or whether it will be a brand new one.
While the video games always feature a human protagonist, often a former Vault Dweller, we do know that the main character in this series is a Ghoul, mutated humans who have been exposed to intense and prolonged radiation over time. They look like zombies, but can still live and function normally, but many people dislike them because of their appearance.
Actor Walton Goggins, who will play the as-yet-unnamed Ghoul, has shared a few behind-the-scenes photos on the set of precipitation where he wrote: “Day 1… FALLOUT… for Amazon. Deep breath…. Exhale… Let’s see where this road goes.”
Over time, we should expect to see some photos of Walton after he’s been “horrified,” to resemble the irradiated humans featured in the series. So maybe we’ll get a glimpse of some cool practical effects in the coming months!
Fallout Cast: Who’s in the Adaptation?
Walton Goggins is joined by a great cast thus far, including: Yellow jackets star Ella Purnell, Twin PeaksKyle MacLachlan, The wheel of time season 2 star Xelia Mendes-Jones, and incoherent’with Aaron Moten.
It is not yet known who these cast members will play, but there is a mountain of possibilities. Could President John Henry Eden Make an Appearance or Beloved Galaxy News Radio Host Three-Dog? We’ll have to wait!
Fallout: first images
Fans have spotted sets for precipitation in Staten Island, New York, but it is not yet known whether the series will also be set there or elsewhere.
The set photos show a Super Duper Mart and some rusted, destroyed vehicles like you’d see in the video game series, so we now know that some scenes could be filmed in the fictional supermarket where robbers often hang out.

We added some dirt to the front of the store and some cars going in. The lights are on the inside so we have to imagine they are working on the interior. @Fallout #StatenIsland @amazon @BethesdaStudios #FalloutNewYork #FalloutNY #FalloutTV DM me if you need extras! pic.twitter.com/6IE4MKGtJnJuly 20, 2022
So far, that’s our only glimpse of the precipitation sets, but we’ll be sure to update you as more are released to give fans a taste of what’s to come.
Further filming locations have not been confirmed either, so outside of Staten Island we don’t know where else precipitation is still being filmed.
Is there already a trailer?
Unfortunately not… we will have to be patient!
