As beloved as the franchise is with its large number of well-received entries, it’s not the most consistent series in gaming. The episodes, even the main ones, are known for their varying quality. The 2010s were no different, and Metacritic showcases the vastly different receipts the Resident Evil games received in this decade.

9 Umbrella Corps was one of the least liked games in the franchise (38)

2 Resident Evil 7: Biohazard was a return to form (86)

A total remake was released in 2019. Resident Evil 2 took the story and many other elements from the original, and recreated them in the modern RE Engine, eliminating the overhead view for over-the-shoulder third person.
