An Elden Ring fan points out an easy-to-miss detail about Godfrey’s boss fight that adds a little more emotional depth to the battle.
Elden ring it’s one of those games that fans will theorize about and find new details about for years to come. This is especially true because, while unconfirmed, many are eagerly awaiting FromSoftware to announce new Elden ring DLC This can help fill in some of the gaps left by the story, as it sometimes feels like players are putting pieces of the puzzle together without the full story.
ELDEN RING SPOILERS NEXTA recent discovery is interesting, however. Like anyone who has beaten Elden ring and seen one of their endings, if not all of them will know, the final challenge before entering the Erdtree is Godfrey. Inside, players will face off against the second Elden Lord Radagon and the manifestation of the Great Will, the Beast Elden, but Godfrey remains his final challenge before that. However, official tradition makes it appear that the Elden ring player is a challenge for Godfrey as well.
As pointed out by Redditor M24Spirit, Godfrey’s opening cutscene will show his guidance for free by pointing at the Tarnished player – meaning, in many ways, that the player serves as a boss for him before he can regain the title of Elden Lord. Godfrey is the first Spotted, with many following him to the Badlands (and the clipped Godfrey content suggests the player was one of them). His return obviously includes the return of his grace, according to the official tradition of Elden ring.
The events of Elden ring are orchestrated by Marika so that she can apparently escape her fate and her link to the Greater Will. Many fans theorize that Tarnished was never meant to be Elden Lord; instead, they were to do the heavy lifting for Godfrey, who would then take their runes and carry out Marika’s plan with the Elden Ring. Whatever the exact plan, it looked like a confrontation between the first Tarnished and the Tarnished player was orchestrated by Marika’s grace.
This makes the duel almost as epic as the clash between the Blood Hunter and Gehrman. The main difference here is that Hunter and Gehrman dueled to save each other from the nightmare and suffering of the Hunter’s Dream, while Godfrey and the Tarnished fought to see who would become the next Elden Lord. Of course, players can also choose one of the non-Elden Lord endings, chasing the Star Age ending with Ranni or the Frenzied Flame Lord ending.
Either way, it’s a showdown to enter the Erdtree – one where, it seems, Godfrey’s power is on par with the Tarnished player.
Elden ring is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
