When asked which dragon fights in Elden ring was the best, most players will mention Lichdragon Fortissax or Dragonlord Placidusax. Reddit user TheVilebloods particularly liked the first one, so much so that the Elden ring player made a painting based on the encounter.

Encountering the Lichdragon Fortisax boss battle takes some work as players need to reach Deeproot Depths – something that is easier said than done as two Valiant Gargoyles guide the entrance to the location. Once there, players need to reach the Throne of the Prince of Death and eliminate the Fia Champions. Once you’ve progressed far enough in Fia’s questline, she will move to this area, and players can give her the Cursemark of Death to end the questline. After talking to her three times and entering the Deathbed Dream, the fight will finally begin.

What makes Lichdragon Fortissax stand out is its lightning abilities, as the beast constantly generates red lightning on its sides to make it difficult for the player to land hits without being damaged. His most memorable move is creating two large electric bidents, lifting them into the air before launching an attack. This look is unforgettable, making it the perfect focus for TheVilebloods’ Forissax digital painting.

Instead of going for something photorealistic, or replicating one of the Elden ring tapestry paintings that have been shared, TheVilebloods’ piece has its own unique style. Taking a somewhat minimalist approach, the piece is full of color, with the Lichdragon floating in the sky with its two bidents in hand. Its wings can be seen clearly, as is its neck, with a lot of red used to make it look like lightning is being used. Redditor said their goal was to capture the “feel” of this well-hidden encounter, and they certainly did.

While the Lichdragon may be the focus of the piece, it’s not the only thing worth appreciating. The player makes sure to include a dual-wielding Spot that is facing the boss, and the player character’s small size is a great way to reflect the enormity of Fortissax. The glowing water is another nice touch, while the dead foliage in the corners of the piece and the water itself help to reflect the decaying setting in Deeproot Depths. Unsurprisingly, other players loved this piece, with all the reviews praising the art or joking about how they saw many double katana builds.

With so many prominent bosses scattered across the Lands Between, the artistic members of the Elden ring community have no shortage of memorable moments to recreate. This tribute to Lichdragon Fortissax is particularly stellar, as TheVilebloods’ distinctive style sets it apart from other fan art.

Elden ring is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
