Ceramics are an important refined raw material in Astroneer which is used to make many items including platforms, storage and wind turbines. Some fans may not know exactly how to get Ceramic, because the process is not fully described in the game. Fortunately, it is not very difficult to get ceramics in Astroneerand this guide has details on how fans should approach the pursuit.
Astroneer: how do you get ceramics?
To obtain Ceramics, players must first raise their hands Clay† This natural resource is indeed what survival video game fans will narrow down to the ceramics they need, and there are three different ways to earn it. Here are details on these three methods, and players may want to use all of them to maximize their Clay earning potential:
The first way to obtain clay is to extract it directly from the surface of a planet Astroneer† Players who want to take this approach should be wary of reddish brown pyramids during their exploration, as that is the form Clay nodes take. These nodes in particular can be quite elusive on certain planets, so fans shouldn't be too surprised if it takes a while to find some.
Bottom Centrifuge
The Soil Centrifuge is a crafting module created in the Medium Printer and has the power to make Clay. More specifically, the machine can: transform two full canisters of soil into six clay† This is arguably the easiest way to earn the natural resource, and video game making fans who keep some canisters to their Terrain Tools should have a stash of Clay in no time.
Trading platform
The final way to get Clay comes in the form of the Trade Platform, a module created in the Medium Printer. Indeed, this machine will output two clay for each scrap that a player puts in it. That said, space video game fans are likely to find better uses for their scrap, and they are therefore advised to use this method only when absolutely necessary.
With some clay in hand, players can now put it in the melting furnace, a craft module created with the media printer, to refine the source into ceramics. This is a process that players will become quite familiar with as they progress through the game, as the smelter is used to refine numerous resources. Quartz, malachite and titanium are among those resources, and players can expect to return to them again Astroneer module quite regularly.
Astroneer is available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
