There are so many exciting upcoming Bethesda games in the works that we already know about. Many notable developers are published by Bethesda Softworks and also fall under the same umbrella parent company ZeniMax Media, which is now part of Xbox Game Studios after Microsoft acquired it in 2020. With companies like Arkane, id Software, Zenimax Online Studios and MachineGames, many projects have been announced to date – many of which have quickly made their way into our pick of the most anticipated new games on the horizon.
As a result of Microsoft’s acquisition, many of the upcoming Bethesda games will be coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one. And other recently released games published by Bethesda Softworks, including: death loop from Arkane Studios and Ghostwire Tokyo from Tango Gameworks are both set to come to Xbox Series X at some point once their PS5 exclusivity windows come to an end. On the development side, Bethesda Game Studios is currently working on the upcoming release of the space adventure, starfield. But after the huge success of Fallout 4 and Skyrim, the studio has already teased new episodes for its biggest IPs. Below, we’ve rounded up all the upcoming Bethesda games announced so far in one place, along with their expected launch windows, so you know what to expect and when.
starfield
Developer: Bethesda Game Studios
Publisher: Bethesda Softworks
Publication date: First half 2023
Platform(s): Xbox Series X/S, PC
Best known for Elder Scrolls and Fallout, Starfield will be the first new IP developed by Bethesda Game Studios in 25 years. First officially announced in 2018, the new RPG will take us on the role of a member of the space exploration organization Constellation. The most recent Xbox and Bethesda showcase in June, set in what is known as the Settled Systems in the year 2330, gave us a first good look at gameplay, with features such as a lock picking mini-game, planetary exploration, combat, crafting, character creation, and more. Originally slated for release in 2022, Bethesda announced it had since shifted to the “first half of 2023”. The prospect of experiencing a new IP is certainly an exciting one, and with the promise of “unparalleled freedom” and the chance to be whoever you want to be, it will certainly be interesting to see how the adventure takes shape.
redfall
Developer: Arkane Austin
Publisher: Bethesda Softworks
Publication date: First half 2023
Platform(s): Xbox Series X/S, PC
The developers behind Prey and Dishonored are ready to bring us a new open-world co-op FPS with redfall. In an island town of the same name in Massachusetts that is under siege by vampires who have blocked the sun, you play as one of four heroes, each with their own abilities to take on the fanatical enemies. You can also play solo or with up to four players. Redfall’s leeches are said to be rather unusual thanks to the psychic abilities they’ve gained from failed scientific experiments. In addition to Starfield, Redfall’s original release date was also pushed back to the early quarter of 2023. But if the studio’s legacy of immersive sims and world-building has anything to offer, this could very well be a co-op FPS worth the wait. is.
Developer: Bethesda Game Studios
Publisher: Bethesda Softworks
Publication date: TB
Platform(s): TB
Over the past decade, Skyrim has seen tremendous success, with the fantasy RPG making its way to almost every platform imaginable over the years. With so much love for Elder Scrolls out there among players, it’s no surprise that a new installment is in the works. First announced with a short teaser that officially confirms its existence with a title reveal in 2018 (opens in new tab)very little is known about Elder Scrolls 6 as the team’s focus has been on Starfield in recent years. Earlier in 2022, a LinkedIn profile suggested the project is still in pre-productionfase, so it’s a safe bet that it will be quite a while before we see or learn anything more about it. Still, knowing it’s coming is exciting in itself, and we can hardly wait to see what’s in store when Elder Scrolls returns.
fallout 5
Developer: Bethesda Game Studios
Publisher: Bethesda Softworks
Publication date: TB
Platform(s): TB
As one of the longest-running IPs now owned by Bethesda, there’s always been another Fallout item in the pipeline. In fact, even before it was addressed by Todd Howard, given a… fallout 5 one day it felt inevitable, given the success of Fallout 4 and the submissions that preceded it. We don’t know much yet about what our return to the post-apocalyptic world will look like, and it will probably be a long time before we find out. In an interview with IGN (opens in new tab) in 2022, Howard confirmed that: Fallout 5 comes after Elder Scrolls 6, which is still in pre-production. In 2021 Howard also said that Fallout is is part of the studio’s DNA and confirmed there is a one-pager on Fallout 5 outline what they want to do. We can only speculate about the next adventure, but like Elder Scrolls 6, it’s exciting to know it’s coming in the future.
Indiana Jones game
Developer: Machine games
Publisher: Bethesda Softworks
Publication date: TB
Platform(s): TB
The Indiana Jones game was definitely one of the biggest surprises to get started in early 2021. With a teaser video showing some small hints about the game that many quickly analyzed, we were taken over to a desk strewn with books, notes, a map, a compass, and a typewriter by the name of the developer Machine Games – which is known for for working on the Wolfenstein series. Then the camera pans seductively to Indy’s signature hat and whip to cap off the excitement. We still don’t know much about the upcoming adventure being made in partnership with Lucasfilm Games, but signs suggest it could be good be Xbox exclusive and it was said that in the very, very, very early stages of development a few months after its first unveiling in 2021.
Look forward to future releases with our roundups of the most exciting upcoming Xbox Series X games, upcoming PS5 gamesand new pc games underway.
