After taking a rather nasty fall at the end of the game’s first chapter, strayed players are located deep underground at the entrance to the Dead City. As the name suggests, those who once lived in this town are no longer alive, although that’s not to say that this dark and dingy location is completely devoid of life.

Complete Chapter 2 of Stray

When the chapter first starts, the playable cat will move a little cautiously after its fall. In fact, it will eventually collapse after just a few steps, leading to a cutscene where you can see a nearby door open. Shortly after, the playable cat will rise again and this time be able to walk away from his injuries after a few moments.

After recovering, players must go through the gap in the newly opened door and jump over the fence in front of them. They will encounter a dead robot and some mysterious creatures here, but for now the latter seem to have no interest in the cat and instead decide to flee so players can move on. When they reach the floating barrels just in front of you, they need to jump across and then move to the right side of the screen.

If players go through an opening in a metal gate and jump through a hole in the wall, players will find themselves in a wide open room with some pipes leading up. Instead of scaling them right away, players must grab the metal bucket from the back right corner of the room by pressing the Triangle button. They can then take this to the area above and press Triangle again to drop the bucket into a giant spinning fan so they can safely pass through.

The next area contains some paint cans and some scaffolding. Players must look for the line of four paint cans on their left and use Triangle to push the two center ones off the rim. This allows them to jump ahead of an old air conditioner. From there they have to jump to the yellow air conditioning unit to their right and then to the area above where they will find another paint can and a large amount of blue paint.

By pressing Triangle here a few times, players can push this paint can off the rim. This will shatter the glass window below the ledge, allowing players to jump down into the building below. While here, players should make a point of scratching one of the two carpets in the room they land in, as this is necessary for those hoping to unlock the “Territory” trophy in strayed.

When you leave this apartment, players will go to a metal bucket attached to a length of rope, which they can jump into by pressing the X button. This takes them to the area below, where they will encounter more of those strange creatures from the past. A little further along they also find a dying robot, but have to ignore this and instead jump on the nearby roof with the neon sign. A little further on they come to a cutscene and the first chase part of the game.

Avoiding Zurks can be a bit tricky, especially when players are first starting out. It should go without saying, but they’ll want to constantly run during chase sections, which means holding the R2 button for those playing on PlayStation. It also helps to zigzag a bit, as Zurks have a habit of randomly popping up on players and sucking the life out of them. When this happens, players must press the Circle button to shake them off.

After about a minute of running, players come to a series of stairs leading down, followed by a series leading up. After climbing the last one, they can jump over a gap and jump into an open window, ending the chase for now. After a bit of scratching, players must move on, climbing the nearby stairs, then following the neon signs by jumping over the rooftops and air conditioning units.

Finally, players come to a wooden beam, which they must push by pressing the Triangle button. They must then go through the window with the blue glowing light behind it and follow the path to an area with an empty metal barrel. By climbing into this barrel and walking to the right, players can use it to get to a metal canopy to their right, from which they can continue to follow the neon signs.

The next section is all fairly linear, with a few metal beams to cross and another wooden plank or two to push down. One of these planks will eventually break, causing the cat to fall to a lower level of the scaffolding. However, if they continue to follow the path in front of them, players will eventually enter a room with a spinning fan on the far wall.

Once they’ve done that, they’ll have to look in the back left corner of the room for an outlet with an energy cell in it. When they find it, they must press Triangle to remove the energy cell and stop the fan. This allows them to safely go through the shaft and dive with their head in the shaft strayed‘s third chapter, The Flat.
